Regulatory framework.

The Charter and Agreement require the BBC and the Trust to publish documents explaining the BBC's purposes, setting out its policies and priorities, and describing the remits of its services.


Purpose remits

The BBC's mission to inform, educate and entertain

Under the terms of the Charter and Agreement, the BBC's main activities should be the promotion of six public purposes through output consisting of information, education and entertainment.

One of the Trust's obligations is to set purpose remits for each public purpose. These define the Trust's priorities for the Executive Board and explain how it will judge the Executive's performance against them.
