Consultations.

Regular and wide-ranging consultations are one of the key ways the BBC Trust ensures the BBC remains responsive and accountable.

BBC Trust public consultations

The BBC Trust is consulting on key issues facing the BBC and is inviting licence fee payers, industry and other interested parties to contribute.

Full details of all consultations will be posted on this website. Once a consultation is completed the Trust will publish its decision, and the reasons behind this decision, alongside an analysis of all the information which has been considered.

How the Trust will consult

The ways in which the Trust will consult will vary. However, consultations will always be conducted in ways that are appropriate to the subject matter of the consultation. In some cases this will involve seeking the opinions of a specific group or groups of people, especially if they are likely to be affected by the outcome of the consultation. The Trust will also discuss key issues with the BBC Audience Councils.

In May 2008 the Trust published details of how it will carry out its formal consultations.

Consultations conducted by BBC Governors

The Trust took over from the BBC Governors in January 2007. Consultations commissioned by the Governors can be found on the BBC Governors' website.
